A Secret to Renewing Your Youth

Renew Your Youth

Psalm 103 reveals a secret to renewing our youth. It promises to the faithful that YHWH will satisfy our mouths with good things so that our youth will be renewed like the eagle’s.

Many eagles can live into their 70s – three score years and ten. This is only if they take vigorous action in their 40s though. By this time their beaks can grow to be unmanageable – as can their claws. Some commentators have declared that a focused eagle will return to it eyrie and will pluck out its plumage, pluck out its talons, and bash its beak against the rocks until it is worn off. There then follows 150 days of fasting and rest until its youth is renewed!

Interestingly, Ps 103 is not suggesting that we need to do this (contrary to some preachers’ declarations). Rather it suggests that the way God works with us, by satisfying our mouth with good things, will have a similar effect.

There is no better manna to place upon our lips than the Word of God. Our mouths should be graced with positive, non-condemnatory speech. (Remember the judgement of God in the Wilderness on His people who complained?!!!) The most positive words you can affirm start with “I Am…” YHWH’s self-revelation is the name, “I Am that I Am” – the very ‘stuff’ of affirmations. So here is “An Alphabet of Affirmations” for you to satisfy your mouth with and so renew your youth.

Confessions of a Regenerate: Day 2

Confessions of a Regenerate.
Since all things are sustained by the Word of His Power, here is some good things to say about yourself in Him.

Day 2 From John 4

I know the gift of God.
I ask Him and He gives me Living Water.
I drink the water He gives me and I never thirst.
Indeed, the water He gives me becomes in me a spring of water
welling up to Eternal Life.
I am a true worshipper and I worship the Father in spirit and in truth,
for I am the kind of worshipper the Father seeks.
God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.
My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work.
I open my eyes and look at the fields!
They are ripe for harvest.
Even now I draw my wages,
even now I harvest the crop for Eternal Life,
so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.
He has sent me to reap what I have not worked for.
Others have done the hard work,
and I have reaped the benefits of their labour.

Confessions of a Regenerate: Day 1

Confessions of a Regenerate.

Since all things are sustained by the Word of His Power, I figured it would be good to have some Scriptural confessions on my lips.

Day 1 From John 3

I am born again.
I can see the Kingdom of God.
I can enter the Kingdom of God because I am born of water and the Spirit.
I am spirit for the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
I am born of the Spirit: you cannot tell where I am from
or where I am going.
I believe in the Only Begotten Son;
I shall not perish but I shall Everlasting Life.
I believe in Him so I am not condemned.
It may be seen plainly that what I do is done through God.
